O Christmas Tree: Thoughts on Eric Garner, Cancer, and Christmas

My friend Caolan blogged about marching for Eric Garner with our toddlers, and did so in a way that I could not.  I’ve felt verbally paralyzed this last week, and perhaps that is good, so that I may better listen and amplify voices of lived experience.

In any case, I’m glad Caolan was able to articulate that feeling of wanting to ally without projecting that our presence was validating, of theoretical anger, of parenting and radicalism, and of holy-shit-you-guys, if you would like to know where the real war on Christmas is being waged, have I got a couple of hard hearts and absences of perspective to show you.
